Frequently Asked Questions

Naturopathy follows a holistic and preventative approach to healthcare. It is not a substitute for conventional healthcare but can effectively complement it. The health of the whole person is assessed with the aim of addressing the underlying cause of illness rather than just alleviating symptoms.

Qualified naturopaths will provide individualised, minimally invasive treatment plans that assess the whole person – not just individual symptoms. Naturopathy can help assist in the treatment of disorders. Other benefits include improved skin and sleep, reduction in stress and improved overall health and quality of life.

Currently, Naturopathy is not a regulated profession in Australia. When looking for a  Naturopath, ensure that they are qualified with a Bachelor Degree in Health Science (Naturopathy) or, as a minimum, the Advanced Diploma of Applied Science (Naturopathy). They should also be registered with a professional body, for example, the NHAA, ANTA etc.

Initial consultations are for new clients and run for 60-minutes. The consultation duration is to allow for a comprehensive assessment of your health history and current presentation. We will discuss your current concerns and health goals, personal and family medical history, current medications or supplements, dietary analysis, lifestyle and relevant body systems. A physical examination will also be performed (for online consultations, you may be required to see your GP for a physical examination check-up). Further investigations such as pathology testing or referrals may be requested.

Your treatment plan will be sent to you within 24 hours following your appointment. The treatment plan may include dietary and lifestyle recommendations, and if required, herbal medicine, nutritional supplements or topical applications may be recommended. Initial consultations are currently available online or in our Mackay clinic.

Return consultations are for existing clients and run for up to 45-minutes. In your return consultation, we discuss your test results, monitor and review your progress and make any updates required to your treatment plan. We may also conduct further case testing if required. Your updated treatment plan will be sent to you within 24 hours following your appointment.

Return consultations are for existing clients and run for up to 45-minutes. They can take place in-clinic or online.

There is no set amount of consultations required as this is specific to each person’s health requirements. However, typically 3 – 4 consultations, 2 – 3 weeks apart, will be required to see sufficient improvement. As treatment progresses, treatment plans are adapted for your specific requirements.

Private health care rebates are no longer available for naturopathic consultations, as of the 1st of April 2019.

General or functional pathology testing can be arranged for you, including comprehensive stool analysis or hormone testing. This is an additional cost that is paid directly to the laboratory. Once the results are returned, these will be assessed and will be explained to you in detail during a return consultation.

We understand that life happens, and occasionally you may need to cancel your appointment. We just ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment due to limited appointment availability. This allows us to fill your appointment slot.

A cancellation policy applies to non-attendance and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice. Non-attendance and cancellations (with less than 24 hours notice) are charged 50% of the consultation fee. You may reschedule or cancel by contacting us by:
